The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience in a busy accounts department, with excellent organizational and administrative skills. You will also have a high standard of numeracy and be proficient in using MS Office packages, especially Excel.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Reconcile suppliers' statements to the purchase ledger and be the first point of contact with suppliers.
  2. Setup new Suppliers and Debtors.
  3. Keep creditor listings up-to-date.
  4. Sales ledger Credit control and keeping debtors list up to date.
  5. Raise fortnightly electronic and manual payments to suppliers, including to government institutions such as HMRC.
  6. Reconcile credit card statements.
  7. Posting of all bank and investment statements.
  8. Reconciliation of supplier's statement and advising of any accruals and prepayments.
  9. Process staff expenses.
  10. Maintain invoice filing and archiving.
  11. Post transactions to the ledgers.
  12. Raise sundry invoices and collecting payment.
  13. Maintain electronic banking data and posting income to accounting software.
  14. Preparing banking for rent and non-rent receipts.
  15. Advising budget holders on the processes of invoice, purchase order and authorisation on Focal Point.
  16. Support Senior Finance Officer with month-end postings, reconciliations, year-end schedules and annual budget as required.
Requirements:
  1. A minimum of two years' experience in a busy accounts department.
  2. A high standard of numeracy.
  3. Experience of accurate data input or maintaining a computerised accounts system.
  4. Highly computer literate, with practical experience of using MS Office packages, especially MS Excel.
  5. Ability to follow agreed financial procedures including credit control, raising invoices, maintenance of nominal ledger, bank reconciliations and electronic banking.
  6. Good organisational and administrative skills, can demonstrate ability to prioritise work under pressure.
  7. Knowledge of computerised accounting packages, preferably Access Dimensions and Focal Point.
  8. Studying towards AAT qualification.
