About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services to patients with perinatal mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee the provision of occupational therapy services within defined service areas, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and service users.
  • Provide professional clinical leadership and quality improvement in the management and coordination of occupational therapy services.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of perinatal mental health clinical services, using specialist clinical leadership skills and knowledge to provide training and consultancy in occupational therapy.
  • Supervise and support Band 6 Occupational Therapists, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality services.
  • Monitor team and individual performance, ensuring best use is made of health and social care resources to assist recovery and re-enablement.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist
  • Completion of fieldwork educators' course
  • Current Children and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults level 2
  • Evidence of postgraduate or equivalent specialist training in areas of practice relevant to the post, such as mental health, maternity, child development, or perinatal
  • Sensory Integration Training and other specialist occupational therapy-specific postgraduate qualifications
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
  • Clinical experience working as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist with perinatal services, providing occupation-focused assessment and interventions
  • Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision
  • Experience of carrying out assessments for basic equipment and adaptations
