Head of Financial Accounts

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Financial Accounts to join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting and a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial services.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Head of Financial Accounts will be responsible for leading and managing the Financial Accounts team to deliver an effective financial accounting service to the Executive Team, Senior Managers, and all service users both internal and external. This will involve developing and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring the highest levels of financial governance and performance standards are achieved and maintained.
The post holder will also be responsible for the delivery/provision of accounting and financial services for the Financial Accounts department, including the planning of manpower and financial resources required to meet the delivery of the service. Special attention/focus will need to be given to the allocation of responsibilities and co-ordination of the various finance and non-finance functions, including Patient Affairs, workforce planning, wards and departments, and external agencies such as the external audit, internal audit, counter fraud, and HM Revenue and Customs.

Requirements- Qualified CCAB (Accounting qualification) or knowledge and experience equivalent to post registration/graduate degree.
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge across a broad range of Financial Accounting topics.
- Sound understanding of Financial Reporting Standards (FRS).
- Sound understanding of the Manual for Accounts.
- Significant NHS experience.
- Extensive Financial Accounting experience.
