Head of Financial Accounts

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Financial Accounts to join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting and a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial services.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Head of Financial Accounts will be responsible for leading and managing the Financial Accounts team to deliver an effective financial accounting service to the Executive Team, Senior Managers, and all service users both internal and external. This will involve developing and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring the highest levels of financial governance and performance standards are achieved and maintained.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the delivery and provision of accounting and financial services, including the planning of manpower and financial resources required to meet the delivery of the service. This will involve working closely with other finance managers to ensure consistency across the Financial Accounts Department and wider organisation.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will have:
- A qualified CCAB (Accounting qualification) or knowledge and experience equivalent to post registration/graduate degree.
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge across a broad range of Financial Accounting topics.
- Sound understanding of Financial Reporting Standards (FRS).
- Sound understanding of the Manual for Accounts.
- Significant NHS experience.
- Extensive Financial Accounting experience.
