Head of Financial Accounts

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Financial Accounts to join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Finance Directorate, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Financial Accounts team to deliver an effective financial accounting service to the Executive Team, Senior Managers, and all service users.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a range of policies and procedures, including the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs), to ensure the highest levels of financial governance and performance standards are achieved and maintained.
- Deliver and provide accounting and financial services for the Financial Accounts department, including the planning of manpower and financial resources required to meet the delivery of the service.
- Ensure the Trust's Statutory Accounts and external and internal monthly reporting are completed in accordance with timetables and guidelines distributed by the NHS Executive.
- Streamline processes for reporting and ensure consistency across the Financial Accounts Department and wider organisation.
- Qualified CCAB (Accounting qualification) or knowledge and experience equivalent to post registration/graduate degree.
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
- Highly developed specialist knowledge across a broad range of Financial Accounting topics.
- Sound understanding of Financial Reporting Standards (FRS) and the Manual for Accounts.
- Significant NHS experience and extensive Financial Accounting experience.
