About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural and Civil Engineering Senior Professional to join our team at Bureau Veritas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering a highly technical and professional service in Building Control relating to Structural Checking and Compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a highly technical and professional service in Building Control relating to Structural Checking and Compliance.
  • Provide Structural Engineering support to the Building Safety Regulator for new and occupied Higher Risk Buildings within the framework agreements with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Develop other work streams that align with professional Structural Engineering Services within the built environment.
  • Support and advise commercial clients regarding Structural Design issues in line with the UK Building Regulations and all necessary legislation.
  • Undertake project work and liaise with the HSE/BSR regarding our Building Safety Regulator Support Framework contract and obligations.
  • Act as one of the BV contacts for external project stakeholders.
  • Undertake inspections of structural assessment work on a wide range of projects; checking plans, drawings, and associated information for structural compliance to ensure proposals meet the Building Regulations.
  • Ensure that records of all project and inspection records are accurately entered on the database.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and complete personal CPD.
  • Author and deliver competency training to internal team members and, where required, to external clients.
Requirements
  • Qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in Structural Engineering and working towards Chartered Engineer status with the ICE or IStructE.
  • Detailed and in-depth understanding of commercial Building Control and Structural Safety.
  • Strive to improve performance and use innovative methods to achieve goals.
