Job Title: Specialist Biomedical Scientist Microbiology

Spire Manchester is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist with a strong background in microbiology to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our laboratory, you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of microbiology services, working closely with our Laboratory Consultant and Pathology Manager to ensure the provision of high-quality services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement microbiology services, including investigation and reporting, within your areas of specialist expertise.
  • Analyse, interpret, and report information and knowledge related to microbiology concepts and ideas.
  • Develop and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens and blood, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Assist with research and development initiatives, contributing to the advancement of microbiology services.
  • Develop and apply technology for measuring and monitoring pathology investigations, within your specialist area of expertise.
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive, or contentious information, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Develop and maintain your knowledge and skills, as well as those of others, to ensure continued excellence in microbiology services.
  • Promote best practice in health and safety and security, adhering to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance services.
  • Support and enable equality, diversity, and rights, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
Requirements:
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist with no restrictions on practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
