Microbiology Biomedical Scientist Specialist | Band 6 equivalent depending on experience | Full Time

Spire Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and skilled Microbiology Biomedical Scientist with a minimum of 3 years of post-registration experience. The ideal candidate will hold an MSc or a recognized specialist portfolio and will be an integral part of our innovative team.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to enhance your expertise in microbiology, engaging in various aspects such as manual testing, virology, and molecular diagnostics within a compact yet dynamic laboratory environment.

Familiarity with advanced technologies such as Beckman microscan, Bruker Maldi-tof, and BD Max will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology, you will play a crucial part in the organization, management, and advancement of services within a specialized area of pathology or across multiple laboratory services.

You will collaborate closely with the Laboratory Consultant and the Pathology Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality services efficiently and cost-effectively. Your responsibilities will include:

Advancing practices related to investigation and reporting within your areas of specialization. Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting complex information and concepts. Enhancing the management of laboratory specimens and blood samples. Contributing to research and development initiatives. Innovating the application of technology for monitoring pathology investigations in your area of expertise. Communicating complex and sensitive information effectively. Fostering your own professional development and that of your colleagues. Promoting best practices in health, safety, and security. Assisting in the maintenance and development of laboratory services. Engaging in quality improvement efforts. Supporting equality, diversity, and rights within the workplace. Recognizing the risks associated with Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understanding your responsibilities in their prevention and control.

Candidate Profile:

You must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with unrestricted practice capabilities. Strong communication skills are essential.
