Microbiology Biomedical Scientist Specialist | Band 6 equivalent based on experience | Full Time

Spire Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and skilled Microbiology Biomedical Scientist with a minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience, holding an MSc or a recognized specialist portfolio, to join our innovative team. This role presents an excellent opportunity to enhance your expertise in microbiology and engage in various areas including manual testing, virology, and molecular diagnostics within a compact yet dynamic laboratory environment.

Proficiency with instruments such as Beckman microscan, Bruker Maldi-tof, and BD Max will be considered advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

As a Biomedical Scientist specializing in Microbiology, your primary responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the organization, management, and enhancement of services within your specialized area of the pathology department. Collaborating with the Laboratory Consultant and Pathology Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality services efficiently and cost-effectively. Developing practices related to investigation and reporting within your areas of expertise. Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on complex information and concepts. Evaluating the logistics of laboratory specimens and blood. Supporting research and development initiatives. Advancing the application of technology in pathology investigations within your specialization. Communicating complex and sensitive information effectively. Fostering your own professional development and that of your colleagues. Promoting best practices in health, safety, and security. Contributing to the maintenance and development of laboratory services. Engaging in quality improvement efforts. Supporting equality, diversity, and patient rights. Recognizing the risks associated with Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understanding your responsibilities in their prevention and control.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with unrestricted practice. Possess excellent communication skills.
