Maintenance Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Wright Staff Recruitment Ltd. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide maintenance and repair services to our equipment and processes
  • Support the production team in the changing over and setup of all machinery
  • Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurate and legible
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Support Risk Assessments and Health and Safety improvement activities
  • Assist with the installation of new plant and process installations
  • Be responsive to production needs for maintenance and breakdown repair
  • Support and carry out operator training
  • Support and follow the maintenance spares system and stores
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and Kaizen events
  • Share experience and best practice with colleagues
  • Actively support PPM and TPM activities
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is maintained and used as prescribed
  • Be flexible in approach to work to support production needs
Requirements:
  • Time served apprenticeship with practical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum C&G craft qualification - mechanical or mechanical/electric
  • PC literate
  • PLC and Pneumatics control experience
  • Good communication skills and attitude
  • Practical approach to modern problem-solving tools and techniques
  • Five years' experience as a maintenance technician in a packaging/automotive/FMCG working environment
  • Qualification HNC in mechanical engineering or Mech/Elec
  • Knowledge/experience of mechanical/electrical PLC and Pneumatic systems
  • Experience in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement techniques and tools like 5S, Kaizen, etc.
  • 17th/18th Edition wiring regulations
  • Experience of statistical process control (SPC) and modern problem-solving tools techniques
  • Supervisory experience in a 'lean culture' manufacturing environment
  • Broad knowledge of equipment types: packaging and processing
  • Awareness of modern technology
  • Good communication skills and attitude
  • Team player
  • Flexible - able to work shifts and cover overtime when required
  • Competent and self-motivated
  • Leadership Skills
  • Awareness and experience of modern improvement tools and techniques
  • Data handling/PC skills
  • Able to work under pressure to achieve tight delivery schedules
  • Wide maintenance/engineering experience in a selection of modern 'lean cultured' manufacturing environments
