This is a middle-grade fixed-term position for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and delivering day-to-day Urology surgery services, including daily ward rounds, review of inpatient referrals, outpatient clinics, and theatre lists under the supervision of Urology Surgery consultants.

Main Duties

The Clinical Fellow will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of day-to-day Urology services, including clinical activities such as daily ward rounds, review of inpatient referrals, outpatient clinics, and theatre lists. The role also involves on-call activity at middle-grade level, with a 1:8 rota and non-resident responsibilities out-of-hours.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provides hospital and community services from various community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon. The Trust was formed in 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. With around 4,100 staff, the Trust serves a population of over 360,000 people, offering a range of services, including hospital care, community services, and specialist clinics.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a basic medical degree, full GMC registration, and an MRCS or equivalent higher surgical qualification. Relevant postgraduate or higher university research degrees are desirable. National Health Service experience in outpatient clinics, operating theatre lists, and ward rounds is essential, with previous middle-grade experience and Urology experience being desirable. The candidate should also have a good understanding of clinical governance, morbidity and mortality, and research methodology.

Teaching and Communication Skills

The successful candidate will have experience in teaching undergraduate medical students or postgraduate doctors, with a good understanding of communication and interpersonal skills. They should be able to demonstrate a caring and responsible attitude to colleagues and patients.
