Clinical Support Worker Radiotherapy Specialist

The post-holder is responsible for providing high-quality clinical, administrative, and clerical support within the Radiotherapy department. The individual is expected to carry out delegated tasks and ensure appropriate care, information, and support are given to all patients and their carers.
Main DutiesCommunication Skills- Ensuring accurate recording of treatment and planning data, organising and scheduling patient appointments, greeting and escorting patients, and assisting patients with appointment queries.

- Problem-solving and forward-thinking skills.
- Using knowledge of integrated clinical information systems for collating data and adding referrals.
- Data input and radiotherapy completion tasks.
- Where applicable, providing retrieval of medical documents for clinical information, including those from other Trusts.
- Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that adequate information and support are available to patients.
- Producing departmental statistics using appropriate systems, ensuring submission within given deadlines.
- Using analytical skills to make judgments on patient situations, such as deciding when issues need to be escalated and support provided.
- Triage and management of booking forms, booking and scheduling of radiotherapy planning and treatment across all sites.
- Booking and scheduling of physiotherapy and complimentary therapy and support services on site.
- Producing daily Clinic lists from patient management system to cover all clinics held in radiotherapy areas.
- Is responsible for stock control in areas of work.
- Is responsible for the production and processing of all relevant completion letters following a patient's treatment.
- Creation of Follow-up letters on patients' treatment completion.
- Undertaking a range of different delegated duties across the Radiotherapy Department as allocated by the relevant line manager.
- Recording patient information and data and contributing to the implementation of patients' clinical care packages.
- Patient transfer.
- Manual handling tasks as required.
The Christie at Oldham opened in 2010 and is one of three satellites delivering radiotherapy across the network.
The support team works closely with the radiographers and medical team providing administration, practical, and clinical support for patients.
Working hours must be flexible to fit the needs of the service. This may include evening work, some weekend working, and does include working bank holidays. Individuals will be expected to participate in all shift patterns.
Patient care is important to us, and training will be given for the skills required. Completion of the Care Certificate is mandated in this post.
