About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy and dedicated admin team within the Vascular Surgery department at Peterborough City Hospital.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Senior Medical Secretary and clinical team, ensuring the provision of an effective, efficient, and professional service for our patients.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to perform a high level of secretarial and administration tasks within the service, working efficiently with a high degree of accuracy and flexibility. You will be a point of contact for patients, specialty teams, and other departments for all enquiries relating to patients.

You will be responsible for tracking and managing patient pathways in accordance with National targets, utilizing your organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are achieved.

Requirements

  • Experience of using MS Office, particularly MS Word and Outlook
  • Previous Secretarial/Office experience
  • Experience of working with the general public and/or professionals

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience of working within the NHS and an understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience of using Hospital systems, for example PAS (Patient Administration System)

Key Skills and Abilities

  • Good standard of written and verbal communication at all levels
  • Organisational skills and a flexible approach to work
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure to ensure deadlines are achieved

Knowledge and Education

  • Knowledge and understanding of Confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
  • Educated to GCSE level standard English Language at Grade A-C (or equivalent)
