Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. To work as an autonomous practitioner, assessing and providing treatment to patients with complex and/or chronic presentations, and to develop treatment programmes.
  2. To work under the supervision of senior staff, with access to a senior member of staff or manager at all times.
  3. To assist senior staff in the supervision and teaching of physiotherapy assistants and undergraduate physiotherapy students.
  4. To undertake evidence-based practice, participate in departmental research, service development, and audit.
  5. To adhere to Trust policies and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Code of Conduct, Health Care Professions Council Code of Conduct, and National Standards.
  6. To actively promote and develop equality and diversity practices and strategic management in this area.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  1. Diploma in Physiotherapy or BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or overseas equivalent.
  2. HCPC registered (or equivalent body).

Desirable Criteria

  1. CSP Member.

Experience

  1. A range of clinical placements during physiotherapy course.
  2. Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Evidence of relevant CPD and reflective practice with an up-to-date portfolio.

Skills

  1. Able to plan and prioritise own workload.
  2. Ability to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner, including patient records.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with different types of people, including those with communication difficulties.

People Management

  1. Ability to build and maintain relationships with physiotherapy and multidisciplinary teams.
  2. Able to handle sensitive and contentious information regarding staff and patients.
