About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Grounds and Gardens Manager to join our team at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our 66-acre estate, ensuring the highest standards of horticultural excellence and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate a skilled team of horticultural staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of our grounds.
  • Machinery Management: Manage the use and maintenance of various horticultural machinery, ensuring it is in good working order and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Health and Safety: Conduct regular health and safety checks, risk assessments, and machinery inspections to ensure a safe working environment for our team.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Oversee tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, and weeding, ensuring our grounds are always looking their best.
  • Liaison and Communication: Liaise with contractors, external agencies, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Glasshouse Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of our glasshouse, including stock levels of horticultural items.
