Traffic Safety Officer

About the Role:
\We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual to join our School Crossing Patrol team as a Traffic Safety Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on road safety in your community.
\Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with school crossing duties, ensuring the safe passage of pupils and other road users\
- Develop strong relationships with local schools, parents, and community members to promote road safety awareness\
- Work closely with our team to identify and address any traffic-related concerns or issues in the area\
- Provide excellent customer service and support to the public, responding to queries and providing information on road safety initiatives\
- Maintain accurate records and reports on incidents and observations, contributing to ongoing improvements in road safety\
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in road safety and customer service\
- Collaborate with colleagues across different departments to ensure a cohesive approach to road safety and community engagement\
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to promote road safety awareness and education within the community\
- Perform other duties as required, consistent with the role and responsibilities of a Traffic Safety Officer\
Requirements:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds\
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands\
- A high level of situational awareness, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations\
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture\
- Basic IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new software systems\
- Possession of a valid driving license and ability to drive a vehicle safely and efficiently\
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the needs of the service\
- Familiarity with road safety principles and practices, with a willingness to learn and develop knowledge and skills in this area\
- Education to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and mathematics, with a strong emphasis on numeracy and literacy skills\
- Ability to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, with a clear police record\
