Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Town Planner or Planning-focused Surveyor to join their established planning team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in promoting land through Local and Neighbourhood Plans and general planning work.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to advise a diverse range of landowning clients on promoting sites through Local and Neighbourhood Plans and submitting planning applications. They will collaborate closely with surveying, planning, and design teams to create opportunities for landowners through direct land promotion or by partnering with land promoters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on land promotion in the Midlands and beyond, including submissions at all stages of Plan preparation, from call for sites to Examination.
  • Conducting planning appraisals and engaging in pre-application consultations.
  • Appointing and managing consultant teams.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications for various developments, from large-scale residential and commercial projects to smaller rural schemes.
  • Providing advice and submissions for appeals of all types.
  • Handling prior approval applications.

Experience Required:

  • Experience in town planning, with experience from either the private or public sector.
  • Experience in advising on a variety of planning applications, appraisals, and land promotion efforts.
  • RTPI accreditation is welcomed but not required, and support can be provided to achieve this accreditation if desired.

The Team

The planning team consists of RTPI and RICS planners with experience across Local Plan, Neighbourhood Plan, and planning application projects. Team members come from both public and private sectors and work closely with colleagues from surveying, architecture, and design to deliver exceptional results for clients.
