Experienced Yard Supervisor

The Lumber Yard Manager is a key role at Gillman Home Center, responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service and overseeing the daily operations of the lumber yard. This position requires a strong leader who can motivate and guide the lumber yard team to achieve excellent results.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service, greeting and assisting customers in a positive and approachable manner, answering questions, and resolving customer concerns.
- Team Supervision: Supervise and train lumber yard team members on policies and procedures, conduct one-on-one coaching sessions, and hold team members accountable for providing exceptional customer service.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory management, ensuring customers are loaded properly, checking in freight, performing routine cycle counts, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and trucks, refer defects or repairs to the garage manager and general manager, and maintain accurate daily inspection logs.
- Deliveries and Logistics: Work with the sales team and lumber desk to efficiently coordinate daily deliveries, keep customers, sales team, and management apprised of any delays or discrepancies, and ensure all truck license plates are current and required documentation is in each of the trucks.
- Other Duties: Perform a variety of duties, including assisting customers loading and unloading lumber and building materials, building loads as needed, operating trucks and equipment, delivering materials to homes and job sites, and maintaining store grounds.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 1-2 years of supervision preferred, experience managing a lumber yard not required but preferred
- Skills: Excellent customer service, good at prioritizing tasks, attention to detail, ability to delegate tasks, and a valid driver's license
