Job Summary

The Lumber Yard Manager at Gillman Home Center is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service, overseeing the daily operations of the lumber yard, and supervising a team of yard employees. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide excellent customer service, greeting and assisting customers in a positive and approachable manner.
  2. Supervise and train yard employees on policies and procedures, ensuring a clean and well-stocked yard for customers.
  3. Coordinate daily deliveries with the sales team and lumber desk, keeping customers and management informed of any delays or discrepancies.
  4. Perform a variety of duties, including assisting customers with loading and unloading lumber, building loads as needed, and operating trucks and equipment.
  5. Oversee inventory management, ensuring customers are loaded properly and checking in freight.
  6. Maintain accurate daily inspection logs and ensure all truck license plates are current and required documentation is in each of the trucks.
  7. Other duties as assigned, including maintaining store grounds, assisting customers, and performing routine cycle counts.
Requirements
  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. 1-2 years of supervision experience preferred
  3. Valid drivers license; For-Hire Endorsement not required but preferred
