Job Title: Fisheries Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fisheries Research Assistant to join our team at UHI Shetland. As a key member of our research team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our programmes of fisheries data collection, research, and consultancy services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake biological and fisheries data collection and sampling at fish markets, processors, and in our laboratories.
  • Communicate effectively with Fisheries Scientists, the wider department, and industry stakeholders and research partners.
  • Develop and implement data collection and sampling strategies to meet project objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of research projects and consultancy services.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree in a field such as marine biology, ecology, or a related area.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
