Senior Residential Care Practitioner

Location: Burton on Trent, Stoke, Staffordshire

Estimated Salary: £28,000 per year, plus sleep ins are paid at an additional £60 per night

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Senior Residential Care Practitioner in our Children’s Care Home. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes and promote independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support Children and Young People: Provide guidance and support to children and young people to help them achieve their goals and develop life skills.
  2. Daily Running of the Home: Contribute to the daily running of the home and inform Senior Management decisions to ensure smooth operation.
  3. Team Leadership: Lead teams and provide guidance to staff members to enhance their performance and development.
  4. Supervisions: Conduct regular supervisions with team members to discuss progress, set goals, and address any challenges.
  5. Shift Planning: Plan shifts effectively to meet the needs of the home and its residents.
  6. Training and Development: Develop team members through training and support to improve their skills and knowledge.
  7. Engagement with Residents: Directly engage with children and young people through play, activities, personal care, and community involvement.
  8. House Duties: Perform general house duties and maintenance tasks to ensure the home remains clean and safe.
  9. Health and Safety: Carry out health and safety checks to prevent accidents and maintain a secure environment.
  10. Budget Management: Manage budgets to allocate resources effectively and ensure efficient use of funds.
  11. Care Plans: Collaborate with other agencies in planning and implementing care plans to meet the needs of residents.
  12. Risk Assessments: Create and update individual risk assessments to identify potential risks and implement mitigating measures.
  13. Reporting: Prepare reports and attend reviews as required to keep stakeholders informed of progress and developments.
Requirements:
  1. NVQ Level 3 Children's residential or NVQ Level 3/4 Children, Young People & Family Practitioner qualification (essential).
  2. Experience working in a children's home setting (essential).
  3. Supervisory experience.
  4. A genuine desire to support young people.
  5. Holding a full UK driving license (essential).
