About the Role

The University of Leicester is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Lecturer in Paediatric Nursing to join its School of Healthcare. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with education experience to develop their skills and contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in the field of children's nursing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering teaching on the Nursing with Leadership Dual Field (Children's Nursing and Mental Health) MSci program, as well as contributing to all nursing programs within the school. They will be expected to operate as a role model, inspiring students to become fully engaged members of the nursing profession.

The post holder will be encouraged and supported in their self-development, with opportunities to develop their education and training skills. They will be part of a dynamic and expanding nursing team, working closely with colleagues to deliver excellent student experiences and contribute to the school's research portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver undergraduate teaching materials that meet the needs of students and the program
  • Contribute to and undertake assessment activities, ensuring that students are challenged and supported throughout their studies
  • Support placement activities and network creation, building relationships with external partners and stakeholders
  • Assume personal tutor role and activities, providing guidance and support to students throughout their academic journey
  • Contribute to and initiate activities aligned with the school's Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity agenda, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity
  • Participate in all school, college, and university governance and quality assurance processes, ensuring that the course is constantly reviewed and revised to optimize student experience and external reputation
  • Contribute to the University's Citizen's agendas, building external relationships and engaging in knowledge transfer activities that benefit society
  • Develop personal teaching and assessment skills, staying up-to-date with best practices and innovations in the field
  • Contribute to wider school activities as appropriate for expertise and role

The post holder will be expected to work autonomously and independently, leading their own tasks and meeting academic and professional goals. They will be part of a supportive team, working together to deliver excellent outcomes for students and the university.
