Support Worker for Children with Special Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at ILS Case Management. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to James, a 10-year-old child with complex medical needs.
About JamesJames has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, and is visually impaired. He requires all his care needs met and uses a PEG for his fluids, and a wheelchair for mobility. He is unable to regulate his temperature, which can cause him to have seizures.
Your RoleAs a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting James with his daily care needs, including getting up and dressed in the mornings, ready for school, after school to support changing and eating his dinner, bathing or showering, and taking his medication.
- Assisting James during his hydrotherapy sessions on a 2:1 care basis and during any other activities, either with or without his family members.
- Assisting with chores around the family home.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience of working with children with special needs and complex medical needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth, and compassion.
- Essential experience of working with children with visual impairments and an interest in therapy and PEG feeding.
We offer a competitive hourly rate, 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata, pension (subject to qualifying status), and free DBS check. You will also receive induction, relevant training opportunities, regular clinical supervision/review meetings, and ongoing support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department.
