This is an exciting opportunity to join our Complex Injury Claims Team as a Claims Lawyer, handling a caseload of large loss RTA claims with values between £25,000 and £100,000. The ideal candidate will have experience in indemnity, liability, and complex medical issues, with excellent attention to detail.
The role involves working with senior claims handlers in long-standing insurance clients, and may also require assisting the Lead Lawyer in activities that enhance and develop Keoghs' profile.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handling a caseload of large loss RTA claims with values between £25,000 and £100,000.
- Communicating with insurer clients, dealing with queries, and providing progress updates.
- Forensic analysis of quantum evidence, preparing chronologies, and identifying anomalies.
- Using knowledge of complex injury symptomology to identify relevant issues within medical records.
- Critical analysis of liability evidence and identifying gaps.
- Drafting concise technical advice on claim handling, including reserves, indemnity, liability, and quantum issues.
- Proactively identifying next steps required on matters and discussing with the Lead Lawyer as relevant.
- Interviewing witnesses and drafting statements.
- Liaising with parties involved in claims, including the insured, insurer, and witnesses.
- Drafting pleadings and applications.
- Instructing counsel and attending conferences, JSMs, mediations, and court proceedings.
- Dealing with costs budgets in conjunction with costs lawyers.
- Delivery of agreed performance targets and quality standards.
- Delegating tasks to an Assistant/Complex Injury Paralegal and engaging in their development.
- Maintaining case management systems with up-to-date management information for clients.
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven relevant legal experience.
- Experience in indemnity and RTA liability, and complex medical issues.
- Experience working in a similar role assisting on large loss and/or catastrophic injury claims.
- Ideal candidate will have defendant experience, but claimant background will be considered.
- Desire to develop more junior members of the team.
