Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Field Service Engineer to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality service activities, including installations, repairs, and maintenance services, for our analytical equipment across Scotland and North England.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, resulting in high customer satisfaction
  • Ensure high first-time fix rates and low mean time to repair
  • Support our overall Service Targets with respect to Bookings, Revenues, Service Profit, and Overhead Cost
  • Perform Field Service-related duties in line with internal rules, customer regulations, and health and safety guidelines
  • Provide technical support for our UV-Vis/FTIR/Molecular product range, with opportunities to support our Chromatography, Sample Preparation, and DIA instruments
  • Work remotely, providing on-site services that exceed customer expectations and ensure customer success through partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Deliver the highest professional relationship with our customer base, raising technical issues to quickly resolve critical tasks
  • Optimize own work schedule by coordinating with all required partners for service planning
  • Responsible for company assets, including parts inventory, laptop computer, mobile phone, test equipment, tools, software, and company car
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of activities, including field service reports and expenses reports
Requirements:
  • Background in Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related subjects
  • Minimum 1 year of experience servicing analytical equipment, or equivalent applications specialist or end user experience
  • Knowledge of UV-Vis/FTIR/Molecular, Liquid Chromatography, Ion Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Sample Preparation, or high throughput testing is an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance multiple tasks with different priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, self-motivational, and negotiating skills
  • Proficient levels of PC literacy and valid UK Driving Licence
  • Willing and able to travel 5 days a week within territory, Monday to Friday, with occasional nights away from home
  • Good English skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work across all levels, functions, and regions
