Assistant Merchandiser - Trend Analyst
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Merchandiser to join our Home team, focusing on trend analysis and product development. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of market trends, consumer preferences, and sales data.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse market trends, consumer preferences, and sales data to identify opportunities and develop range structures that align with brand positioning and target market.
- Present proposals outlining assortment plans, pricing strategies, and key product features.
- Evaluate previous season performance, departmental metrics, and supplier performance to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
- Cultivate open communication and collaboration with suppliers, establishing trust and transparency in negotiations and business dealings.
- Forecast demand accurately to plan capacity and production schedules, coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely fabric reservations and production.
- Ensure accuracy in merchandise systems by updating data regularly, confirming supplier contracts, and maintaining correct sizing, forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Provide clear direction and support to trainees, setting expectations and goals, and delegate tasks effectively, providing guidance and feedback as needed.
- Review budgets regularly to monitor spending and identify opportunities for cost savings, analysing spending patterns and implementing strategies to optimise allocation of resources.
- Track sales performance, inventory levels, and markdowns throughout the season, identifying trends and patterns to make informed decisions and adjustments.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Merchandiser who can interpret data and use this talent to work with our Buyers and Designers to build and trade trend-driven product ranges for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of market trends, consumer preferences, and sales data, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills.
