Assistant Merchandiser Job Description

Our client, a family-owned licensed garment supplier to the high street, is seeking an ambitious and confident Assistant Merchandiser to join their team. This role will involve assisting account managers and merchandise teams across multiple high street accounts.

The Role:
  • Negotiating Prices: Collaborate with factories and customers to secure competitive pricing.
  • Raising New Orders: Prepare and send orders to overseas factories and in-country merchandisers.
  • Contract Review: Verify all details on customer contracts to ensure accuracy.
  • Communication: Liaise daily with factories and in-country merchandisers via email and phone regarding approvals and rejections.
  • Critical Path Management: Update and analyze internal and customer critical paths to ensure timely delivery.
  • Sample Submissions: Coordinate the submission of samples, including lab dips and strike-offs, to customers.
  • Logistics Coordination: Work with the logistics department to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Design Department Liaison: Collaborate with the design department to resolve design issues and request high-resolution artwork.
  • Label Artwork Approval: Verify and approve label artworks with factories.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve production issues that may arise.
  • Test Reports: Review and send production pieces to the lab for testing.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with customers and attend meetings as needed.
The Candidate:
  • Highly Organized: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Pressure Management: Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing and verifying information.
  • Proactive Approach: Anticipate and address potential issues before they arise.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office packages and Outlook.
  • Departmental Collaboration: Ensure a smooth handover between departments.
