About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Surgical Care Practitioner to join our team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our cardiac surgical team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeons and Junior Medical Doctors in the operating theatre, providing skilled and consistent support in all aspects of elective and emergency adult cardiac and thoracic surgery.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in conventional and endoscopic conduit harvesting, including harvesting of the long Saphenous vein, short Saphenous vein, and Radial artery.
  • Participate in the development of Trust policies and procedures, providing specialist input and leading their implementation.
  • Contribute to the investigation of complaints, accident reports, and untoward incidents within the department/wards, in line with Trust Policies and procedures.
  • Network with multi-professional colleagues within and outside the Trust, encouraging others to do the same.
  • Ensure compliance to Trust policies and procedures amongst the surgical and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in cardiac surgery, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or working towards a postgraduate qualification, a Surgical Care Practitioner Diploma, and RGN/C&G 752/ODP Level III or equivalent medical experience.

Desirable qualifications include relevant theatre/critical care experience, a teaching qualification, D32, NVQ Assessor, and ALS.
