Computational Science Coordinator

About the Role
The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled Community Manager and Project Coordinator to join the Green Algorithms Initiative in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. This is a full-time position, and we welcome applications at a minimum of 60% FTE.
Key Responsibilities
- Community management: Develop and maintain Communities of Practice (CoPs) around green computing, including the Environmentally Sustainable Computational Science (ESCS) community, and domain-specific CoPs when relevant. Manage community resources, coordinate newsletters, meetings, and yearly conferences, and consult with communities to understand their needs and advise the Green Algorithms Initiative Lead on how to address them.
- Project coordination: Oversee the day-to-day running of research programs within the Green Algorithms Initiative, track progress, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. Facilitate collaboration and visits among researchers, coordinate reporting to funders and stakeholders, and support the dissemination of project outputs to the wider scientific community.
About the Green Algorithms Initiative
The Green Algorithms Initiative, led by Dr Loïc Lannelongue, is a world-leading project focusing on quantifying and reducing the environmental impacts of computational science through open-source resources. The initiative has developed tools and frameworks used internationally, including the Green Algorithms online calculator and the GREENER Principles for Environmentally Sustainable Computational Science.
About the Team
The role sits within the Operational Team at CEU, led by Ank Michielsen (Strategic Operations Lead), working under the supervision of Dr Loïc Lannelongue. You will work closely with senior scientists in the Green Algorithms Initiative, including Dr Loïc Lannelongue and Professor Michael Inouye, and other members of the Department and scientific collaborators based in other institutions.
