SEN Learning Support Assistant Primary School

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to small groups of students with learning difficulties, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Help students develop social skills through group activities and one-on-one interaction.
  • Support children in building confidence, improving their communication skills, and managing their behaviour in the classroom setting.
  • Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCo and teachers.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in an SEN setting or with children with learning difficulties is preferred.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach are essential for this role.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A clear DBS check.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
