About the Role

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is seeking a qualified and experienced Band 6 Deputy Lead Nurse to join our dedicated and supportive care team. As a Deputy Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for line managing a small team of staff and identifying training and development needs through the appraisal process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure team working principles are in place throughout the shift.
  • Support the Lead Nurse and Head of Hospice and Community Services in their roles and promote the vision, mission and values of the Hospice.
  • Planning and implementing care for children and young people, with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, within the hospice.
  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care of children and young people in partnership with them and their parents/guardians.
  • Providing excellent short break, palliative and end of life care at Rainbows in a family centred environment in conjunction with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ensuring all procedures are carried out in accordance with local and national policies in force within the Hospice.

Requirements

  • Qualified RSCN/RN (Child Branch)/RNLD/RGN with at least 3 years post-registration experience.
  • Experience with children and/or young people (0-25 years) with complex needs.
  • Palliative care experience is desirable, however specialist training and development opportunities will be provided.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate high standards of clinical care.
