Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Consultant

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to children and adolescents in Oxfordshire.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to lead and develop our CAMHS services in Oxfordshire. You will be responsible for managing mental health crises, supporting the induction of junior medical staff, and contributing to the supervision of medical trainees. You will also be involved in clinical audit projects, staff training, and development, and will work closely with the management team to ensure the efficient running of services.
Key Responsibilities- Manage mental health crises, including the use of the Mental Health Act where appropriate
- Support and enable the appropriate admission and discharge of patients from inpatient units
- Contribute to the Post Assessment clinic consultation slot
- Lead on staff training and regularly offer teaching slots in the Breakfast Teaching Slot
- Contribute to the Supervision Tree and lead on supervising medical trainees
- Complete Routine, Urgent, Emergency, and MHA Assessments
- Attend routine and urgent Multi-Agency patient planning meetings with other agencies
- Complete Health Section of ECHP Applications
- Contribute to staff training and development, including co-facilitating Away Days
- Lead on Clinical Audit Projects
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- A CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
- Participated in continuous professional development
- Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
