About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Specialist to join our team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Radiology department, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of Ultrasound examinations, including Obstetric, Gynaecological, General Abdominal, and Vascular studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake Ultrasound examinations to a high standard, using your expertise and knowledge to ensure accurate diagnoses.
  • Assist in the training of Student Sonographers, supporting the development of their skills and knowledge.
  • Develop your skills in new technology and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Ultrasound imaging.
  • Assess requests for imaging, justifying and/or authorising such requests as appropriate, and liaise with Radiology/Radiography colleagues when specialist input or advice is required.
  • Provide prompt, formal written and verbal reports on ultrasound studies to referring clinicians.

Person Specification
  • Ultrasound case accredited course with experience or current student due to qualify.
  • MSC/PGD Ultrasound or Vascular science Qualification or equivalent.
  • Post Graduate experience.
  • Experience training Students.
  • Knowledge of research/evaluation of practice.
  • Flexible approach to changing circumstances.
