Job Description

The SEND Mediation and Tribunal Officer will be responsible for representing Achieving for Children in informal and formal mediations with families, as well as leading, managing, and engaging the mediation and tribunal processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the SEND Team, Social Care, and key partners, such as Health colleagues and Education providers.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day activities of this role will include:

  1. Representing AfC in informal and formal mediations
  2. Representing AfC at SENDIST Tribunal Hearings
  3. Providing solution-focused thinking and creativity
  4. Building and maintaining strong relationships
  5. Working closely with SENDIASS and other voluntary groups
  6. Traveling across Kingston and Richmond Boroughs
Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification
  • A thorough understanding of relevant legislation
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation abilities
  • Highly developed presentational skills
  • Proven people management skills
  • Substantial legal experience or equivalent qualifications
