This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a School Mental Health Practitioner, working with children, families, and schools to provide early intervention and support. As a key member of our Camden Mental Health Support Team (MHST), you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to children and young people in Camden.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced practitioner to join our team. As a School Mental Health Practitioner, you will work closely with schools, families, and other stakeholders to provide assessment, therapy, and support to children and young people. You will be responsible for delivering evidence-based interventions, developing and implementing whole-school approaches to mental health, and working collaboratively with other teams and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide MHST assessments to children and young people allocated to your caseload
- Liaise with schools, GPs, local authorities, and wider CAMHS teams as required
- Work with your clinical supervisor and MHST managers to develop and implement care plans
- Encourage child and young person participation and student voice
- Deliver time-limited interventions and treatments
- Signpost to cross-sector stakeholders
- Attend regular MHST meetings and CAMHS multidisciplinary meetings as required
- Formulate MHST care plans for service users in collaboration with your clinical supervisor
- Communicate and complete correspondence
- Engage with internal and external networks as appropriate
- Participate in multidisciplinary team activities
- Risk assess and manage within the remit of the School Practitioner role
- Safeguarding responsibilities, escalating to supervisor or MHST manager when needed
- Make referrals as appropriate to other providers
- Responsible for timely and accurate clinical record keeping
- Responsible for the outcome of appointments
- Report writing and GP letter writing
- Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner
- Keep up to date with knowledge of legislation, national and local policies, and issues relevant to the service and client group
Requirements:
- Highly skilled and experienced practitioner with a strong background in child and adolescent mental health
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teams and partners
- Strong assessment and intervention skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
