Job Title: Finance Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Officer to join our team at Folkestone Girls School. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the school's finances, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, and providing excellent support to the School Business Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Transactions: Record and process daily financial transactions, including requisitions, orders, invoicing, banking, and accounting entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with school policies.
  2. Payment Processing: Process and monitor payments for school trips, action supplier BACS payments, and reconcile school credit card purchases.
  3. Payroll Support: Assist the School Business Manager in the accuracy of the payroll process and record all payroll transactions on the finance system.
  4. Invoicing and Receipting: Invoicing and receipting financial transactions associated with 3rd party lettings.
  5. Process Improvement: Work with colleagues to identify efficiencies in processes and reporting, ensuring compliance with Local Authority audit requirements.
  6. Management Accounts: Support the School Business Manager in preparing monthly management accounts and month-end reconciliations.
  7. Payroll Deadlines: Assist the Finance and HR team in preparing and gathering relevant documents for payroll deadlines.
  8. Pupil Premium: Record income and related spend for Pupil Premium, discretionary grants, and donations for accurate analysis and reporting.
  9. Bursary Payments: Process and record termly payments for Bursary pupils.
  10. Contract Renewal: Maintain an annual record of when contracts are due for renewal and bring these to the attention of the School Business Manager.
  11. Finance Inbox: Take overall responsibility for monitoring the Finance email inbox and actioning as required.
  12. Procurement Strategy: Support the School Business Manager in the procurement strategy for the school, requesting quotes and checking budget availability as required.
