Design Engineer Opportunity at Orbex Space

Orbex Space is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Scotland. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical and structural components for our launch vehicle and ground segment equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop structural and mechanical components, including assembly and test fixtures, for our launch vehicle and ground segment equipment.
  2. Collaborate with analysis and manufacturing teams to ensure design meets performance and safety requirements.
  3. Provide hands-on engineering support to hardware prototype development and testing.
  4. Support the development of technical and production drawings in accordance with relevant standards.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor or Master's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  2. Proven track record of delivering design projects across the development lifecycle.
  3. Proficient in CAD software (SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, NX) and technical drawing generation.
  4. At least 6+ years' experience in engineering design, preferably in high-performance or flight-critical components.
  5. Demonstrated experience across the full lifecycle of mechanical engineering developments.
