Design Engineer Opportunity at Orbex Space

Orbex Space is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Scotland. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical and structural components for our launch vehicle and ground segment equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop structural and mechanical components, including assembly and test fixtures, for our launch vehicle and ground segment equipment.
  2. Provide hands-on engineering support to hardware prototype development and testing.
  3. Collaborate with analysis and manufacturing teams to move products through the design process.
  4. Work with CAD software (SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, NX) to generate technical and production drawings.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor or Master's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Proven track record of delivery across the development lifecycle, including requirements capture, concept, detail design, and production.
  3. Proficient in CAD software and technical drawing generation.
  4. At least 6+ years' experience in engineering design, preferably in high-performance or flight-critical components.
  5. Demonstrated experience across the full lifecycle of mechanical engineering developments.
