Orbex Space is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Scotland. As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in the development of mechanical and structural components for our Orbex Prime launch vehicle and its supporting ground segment equipment.

The Position

You will be responsible for designing structural and mechanical components and assemblies, including assembly and test fixtures. Your expertise will be utilized to create detailed designs across various work packages, from bolts and fasteners to complex primary and secondary flight structures.

  1. Design and develop mechanical and structural components, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  2. Collaborate with analysis and manufacturing teams to support the product development lifecycle.
  3. Provide hands-on engineering support to hardware prototype development and testing.
  4. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and technical drawings.
Key Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  1. A Bachelor or Master's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in engineering design, with a focus on high-performance or flight-critical components.
  3. Proficiency in CAD software, including SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, and NX.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex design issues.
