Job Description

Orbex Space is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Scotland. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical and structural components for our launch vehicle and ground segment equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Design structural and mechanical components and assemblies for our launch vehicle and ground segment equipment, including assembly and test fixtures.
  2. Prototype Development: Provide hands-on engineering support to hardware prototype development and test.
  3. Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with analysis and manufacturing teams across the product development lifecycle, ensuring products meet design requirements.
  4. Design Expertise: Utilize CAD software (SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, NX) to generate technical and production drawings in accordance with relevant standards.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor or Master's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Experience: At least 6+ years' experience in engineering design, preferably with high-performance or flight-critical components.
  3. Skills: Proficient in CAD software, design for manufacture (DFM), and production drawings; working knowledge of aerospace and industrial engineering materials.
  4. Additional Requirements: Familiarity with spacecraft structural loads, composite materials, and mechanical testing; proactive problem-solving skills and engineering intuition.
