About The Role

A new leadership position in the Technology leadership team, the Head of Engineering leads, ensures quality, sets ways of working and manages the organisation's engineering department.

The Head of Engineering spearheads innovation in the engineering function, ensuring high quality delivery and running of MO's technology software. They define ways of working and best practices, as well as developing tools and approaches to ensure the successful delivery and ongoing management of software in MO.

The Head of Engineering also drives high-quality pastoral care and career progression for software and quality engineers in MO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and vision to guide the engineering and quality teams in developing cutting-edge, innovative solutions and products.
  • Quality and Best Practices: Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes.
  • Technical Delivery: Oversee the technical delivery of projects within MO, bringing together devops, build and testing in projects.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective communication and collaboration between engineering teams and other departments within the organisation.
  • Resource Management: Work closely with project and product teams to flexibly resource teams and deliver software for MO
  • Budgeting, Supplier and Cost Control: Prepare and manage the Engineering department budget, controlling expenses, and optimising spending while maintaining high standards of service delivery.

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled individual to lead our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical leadership and vision to guide the engineering and quality teams
  • Establishing engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Overseeing the technical delivery of projects within MO
  • Fostering effective communication and collaboration between engineering teams and other departments
  • Working closely with project and product teams to flexibly resource teams and deliver software for MO
  • Preparing and managing the Engineering department budget
