Job Summary

Westlakes Recruit is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team on a permanent or contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and a proven track record of delivering complex design solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design Development: Develop design solutions using AutoCAD / Inventor and direct engineers/designers in the production of complex design solutions.
  2. Technical Documentation: Produce technical documents such as Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, Method Statements, and CDM Risk Registers.
  3. Design Ownership: Take ownership of design deliverables throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning phases of a project, ensuring that the Design Intent is maintained.
  4. Project Safety: Support in the development of project safety case, including HAZID and HAZOP attendance, production of basis of safety documents (Hazard Management Strategy), and engineering substantiation (design/engineering justification).
  5. Team Management: Manage a team of engineers/designers to deliver the engineering scope as required by the project.
  6. Quality Planning: Prepare and review quality plans for single discipline work packages.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  2. Knowledge and Experience: Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to mechanical design, with detail design knowledge of mechanical mechanisms or bespoke equipment for Nuclear use.
  3. Industry Experience: Relevant experience in the Nuclear Industry.
