About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our established and expanding Nuclear team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering design and project activities, ensuring adherence to approved models and managing and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee engineering design and project activities, ensuring adherence to approved models and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, assigning and ensuring delivery of tasks.
  • Conduct comprehensive design work, including 3D modeling, functional calculations, and the production of manufacturing documentation.
  • Apply expertise in handling fissile materials, utilizing 3D CAD systems, and effective data management.
  • Contribute to all phases of project development from mechanical sketches and scheme models to commissioning and project review meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to estimate project timelines accurately, promptly identify potential delays, and communicate changes in project scope.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and contribute to QA audits, reporting any non-conformities or uphold incidents as required.
Requirements
  • A mechanical engineering degree and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IMechE or an equivalent body.
  • Eligibility for security clearance in the UK.
  • Exceptional communication ability.
  • A valid UK driving license.
