Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at Reed, a leading recruitment agency. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of our children's homes, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Take an active role in the lives of children and young people, providing good quality care and encouraging positive interaction.
  • Support and Guidance: Support the Registered Manager in delivering a high-quality service that meets the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people.
  • Operational Management: Lead the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring a safe environment in line with Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Staff Management: Organise, deploy, and manage staff, maintaining flexible work patterns and rotas to meet service needs.
  • Environment and Safety: Manage the physical environment of the home, ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.
  • Care Planning and Risk Management: Oversee care planning and risk management, ensuring individual care plans are developed, delivered, and evaluated.
  • Reporting and Data Management: Maintain data and information systems, preparing and presenting reports as required.
  • Professional Development: Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care and the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or commitment to achieve Level 5 within 2 years of starting).
  • Experience: At least 2 years' relevant experience in residential care within the last 5 years.
  • Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop staff, in-depth knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and associated quality standards, experience in care planning, risk management, and case management, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and excellent communication skills.
