We are seeking a highly skilled Estate Landscaper to join our team at AWD online. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for gardening and machinery operation.

Job Description

As an Estate Landscaper, you will be responsible for maintaining the formal gardens and landscape of our prestigious estate in Cambridge. You will work closely with our Head Gardener to ensure that the grounds are meticulously maintained, using a variety of garden and grounds machinery as necessary.

  • Maintain soft and hard landscape areas through regular seasonal maintenance tasks, including grass cutting, weeding, planting, watering, leaf collecting, and hedge cutting.
  • Operate and maintain a range of garden and grounds machinery, such as ride-on mowers, strimmers, and tractors, ensuring timely and safe use.
  • Undertake specialist training where required to improve your skills and knowledge.
  • Formative and rejuvenative maintenance of deciduous and evergreen trees, shrubs, climbers, and hedges to enhance their health and appearance.
  • Support line management in maintaining health and safety in the grounds and gardens to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
  • Maintain hard landscaped areas, roads, and pathways, ensuring they remain in good condition.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in other areas, such as:

  • Training for the appropriate, timely, and safe use of pesticides and other forms of pest control (moles, rabbits, rats).
  • Assisting in the recording and labelling of the plant collection, including any propagation tasks.
  • General estate maintenance, including trees, fencing, and conservation.

During the winter months, you may be required to be on-call to respond to adverse weather conditions, clearing snow and salting/gritting paths, car parks, roads, and building access areas as needed.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A current valid full driving licence.
  • P.A.1 / P.A.6 Spraying certification.
  • City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Horticulture (desirable).
  • Previous experience working as a Gardener or landscape maintenance operative.
  • Experience using garden machinery, such as riding lawn mowers, strimmers, and walk-behind mowers.
  • Experience using larger estate machinery, such as tractors and telehandlers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

We offer a competitive salary of £26,500 - £28,500 per annum, plus excellent benefits, including:
