About the Role

This exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Senior Oligonucleotide Synthesis Specialist to join our oligonucleotide facility team. In this challenging role, you will be responsible for assisting in expanding the nucleotide and oligonucleotide synthesis capabilities aimed at research and development within the newly established oligonucleotide facility.

As a key member of the team, you will take on technical leadership roles and work closely with other members of the oligonucleotide facility team to develop new synthesis, purification and analytical methodologies/workflows for a wide range of critical long and modified DNA/RNA oligonucleotides.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing an oligonucleotide synthesis pipeline to serve critical R&D projects.
  • Developing synthesis methodologies for complex, modified and long DNA/RNA oligonucleotides.
  • Improving purification and analytical workflows for synthesised oligonucleotides, introducing automation where possible.
  • Analysing oligonucleotides by high-resolution CE, LC-MS and HPLC.
  • Onboarding new technology and methods to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Contributing to the scientific and technical training of the team.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will need to have a strong background in chemistry with industrial or equivalent experience. A BSc, MSc or PhD degree in chemistry is required, as well as strong experience in oligonucleotide synthesis.

You should also have practical knowledge of small molecules and oligonucleotide analysis and purification, as well as strong problem solving and analytical skills.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus an attractive bonus, generous pension contributions, private healthcare and excellent benefits package.
