Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to support students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a highly respected secondary school in Sheffield. As an ASC Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with ASC, ensuring they receive the assistance they need to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to ASC students, assisting them with their learning activities and helping them to develop social skills, communication, and independence.
- Implement support strategies in collaboration with the SENCO and teaching staff to ensure interventions are tailored to the specific needs of ASC students.
- Assist in the classroom by supporting teachers in delivering lessons and adapting teaching materials to accommodate the diverse needs of ASC students.
- Implement positive behavior management strategies and techniques to support ASC students in managing their emotions and behaviors.
- Develop strong relationships with ASC students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open communication channels to ensure the holistic support needs of students are met.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Understanding of the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Condition and the impact it may have on learning, behavior, and social interactions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students facing ASC challenges, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and student engagement.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of ASC students and the school environment.
