Cloud Operations Engineer | Interactive Entertainment / Gaming | Remote (UK based) | £55,000 – £65,000

Langham Recruitment is excited to announce an opportunity for a Cloud Operations Engineer to join a rapidly growing entertainment studio.

This innovative company has achieved remarkable success in a short period, boasting over a million downloads of its platform.

With a focus on expanding the variety and volume of content for their new platform, they are also enhancing tools for user-generated content.

As a vital member of the Live Operations Team, you will be responsible for managing their cloud and build infrastructure while supporting the scaling of live operations within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage scalable cloud services to ensure peak performance.
  • Collaborate with diverse technology infrastructures, identifying and implementing enhancements for scalability and growth, particularly in managed cloud services and Unity3D.
  • Develop automation solutions to optimize deployment, monitoring, and health-checking processes.
  • Construct and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for core cloud environments.
  • Ensure the maintenance of existing services through timely application of patches and security updates.
  • Implement backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies to protect data.
  • Promote and educate the team on DevOps practices, ensuring awareness of the live game's health.
  • Mentor team members in best practices for DevOps to elevate overall team expertise.
  • Assist in formulating an out-of-hours policy for managing live incidents on the platform.
  • Act as the primary responder to any infrastructure-related issues.

Required Experience:
  • 2-3+ years in a Cloud Operations role, particularly with live or online products or web-based services.
  • Experience in Live Operations or Gaming is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with deployment and monitoring of managed services in GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a significant plus, though not essential.
  • Proficiency in at least one DevOps build pipeline tool (e.g., Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
  • Understanding of Docker and comfort with Linux terminal operations.
  • Experience in scripting or programming.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various roles within the organization.
  • Experience engaging with senior internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Capability to take ownership of the company's DevOps practices.
  • Experience in mobile-based deployments with extensive web connectivity (gaming or otherwise) is a bonus, but not essential.
