About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vocational Tutor to join our Education and Skills team at The Growth Company. As a Vocational Tutor, you will play a key role in developing, promoting, delivering, and assessing training programs to maximize learning outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Assessment and Support: Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to ensure students are on the right program and receiving the right level of support.
  • Training Program Design: Plan and design appropriate training programs, including the development of schemes of work and lesson plans, taking into account individual requirements to ensure differentiation of learning.
  • Technology Integration: Adopt effective use of new technologies, including the development of learning programs on SoL-VE and the use of webinars/Skype to meet market demands and enhance the learning experience for students.
  • Training Delivery: Deliver high-quality, engaging training to encourage learners to attend, stay on program, and achieve.
  • Health and Safety: Manage the safe evacuation of students in the event of a fire or other emergency, following agreed company procedures, and ensure that health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Student Support and Feedback: Prepare students to successfully undertake assignments or sit tests/exams in order to maintain high success rates, mark/assess students' work, provide structured feedback, and set development objectives for students.
  • Programme Leadership: Act as Programme Leader for specific awards, with responsibility for admissions, the coordination of tutor resources, representation at exam boards, uploading of marks, and program evaluation (for HE tutors only).
About You
  • IT Skills: Possess IT skills, including the ability to use technology to support learning delivery.
  • Motivation and Inspiration: Be motivating and inspiring, with a flexible approach to work.
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to plan and organize workload effectively.
  • Qualifications: Hold a PGCE, PGDE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent, and subject specialisms where necessary.
Requirements
  • Industry Experience: Have industry experience in a specialist area.
  • T&L Quality Standards: Have experience of T&L quality standards, especially Ofsted.
  • Teaching Experience: Have at least 1-2 years' teaching experience.
  • Special Needs Experience: Have expertise in working with special needs, including learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and challenging behavior.
  • Subject Knowledge: Possess up-to-date knowledge of the specialist subject area and professional qualifications as appropriate.
  • Teaching Qualification: Must hold a teaching qualification.
  • Health and Safety: Have knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and procedures, including emergency evacuation.
