Job Title: Senior Nuclear Physicist

The role

As a Senior Nuclear Physicist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will join a team that has unrivalled expertise in Radiometric Characterisation and Nuclear Material Assay that is focussed on providing innovative solutions for our customers across the full nuclear lifecycle. You will provide key technical leadership to solve problems that will help to progress the UK's decommissioning programme safely and effectively, transforming some of the biggest technical challenges into some of the best solutions.

Day to day, you'll provide specialist characterisation advice and consultancy services during the design, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities, through the application of a wide range of radiometric techniques such as Gamma Imaging, Gamma Spectrometry and Neutron Counting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct, lead and supervise the work of technical specialists to develop and deliver characterisation strategies to time, quality and budget.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relations with customers, regulators and internal stakeholders across Babcock International Group.
  • Maintain and promote knowledge of Industry best practice.
  • Ensure the application of the highest standards for health, safety and environment, ethics and behaviours.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Nuclear Physicist:

  • Experience in the application of Radiometric techniques.
  • Technical based leadership experience.
  • Experience in mentoring & training.
  • Nuclear experience.

Qualifications for the Senior Nuclear Physicist:

  • Science degree (or equivalent qualification) with significant demonstrable experience
